The Mariners were a little short on defence Saturday night using a couple forwards on the point against Deer Lake and it showed on the scoreboard falling 7-2.
Greg Edgar had a goal in his return and the Wings defensive pair of Steve Simms and Lucas MacKay were solid on the backend and kept the Mariners to the outside.
Ryley Nadon was solid again in the Mariner pipes despite giving up seven goals fending off the Wings attack keeping the team in it for as long as possible.
The Mariners are still winless so far on the season but there have been lots of positives to hopefully build toward some wins.
When the team has everyone in the lineup they can compete with anyone in the league and the support of the fans have been quite impressive.
Their next game is this Saturday in Corner Brook vs the first place Royals.
