Make chili great again! With colder weather on the way, why not warm up with my award winning chili? This recipe was tops for two years at our Annual Chili-fest back in Ontario!
1 lb of lean ground beef
2 cans red kidney beans (drained)
2 cans brown beans
1 chopped onion
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
1 lb white mushrooms (sliced)
1 tsp Montreal steak spice
1 tsp garlic (minced)
3 tbsp chili powder
1. Brown ground beef in same pan as onion and Montreal steak spice. Drain excess fat.
2. In a large pot (Dutch oven or larger) combine cooked beef, diced tomatoes, beans (both kinds) and mushrooms. Stir ingredients together and add spices.
3. Simmer for approximately 1 hour before adding tomato paste. Cook on low for1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve alone or with toast.
I add it to everything, like hot dogs or nachos. This recipe is now a staple on the menu at T’s Treats!
Tanya English, and her partner, Michael Oliver, relocated to Port aux Basques in July and are
truly happy to call it home. She operates T’s Treats at the Bruce II Sports Centre. Daily specials can be found on her Facebook page.
